Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun in the UK
This website focuses on the Science of In Fighting according to Wong Shun Leung, which Master Wong Shun Leung named Ving Tsun Kuen Hok or the Science of In Fighting (Pugilism). In essence only Wong Shun Leung (the Sigung of Sifu Doug Clark) had Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun. The Ving Tsun of Sifu Doug Clark is his own based on the learnings, knowledge and understanding of his Sifu Anthony Kan.
Sifu Doug Clark aims to pass on his own skills and knowledge with the best of intentions to maximise his student's success in the System of Ving Tsun Gung Fu, whilst honouring his own Sifu and his lineage.

Sifu Doug Clark was accepted in 1993 as a closed door, direct line student of Sifu Anthony Kan and has trained with him ever since. Sifu Doug Clark was certified by Sifu Kan in 2002 after serious examination. Sifu Doug Clark still trains to this day with Sifu Anthony Kan recognising his excellence.
INDEPENDENCE
Please note well Sifu Doug Clark is like his Sifu Anthony Kan totally independent of any Martial Arts Organisation. Retaining independence whilst having studied the Wong Shun Leung method in its entirety directly from Wong Shun Leung and from Anthony Kan. Sigung and Sifu respectively, Sifu Doug Clark honours them both.
In the words of Sifu Doug Clark "All good points within my Martial Arts are due to the time, knowledge and experience of my Sifu namely Anthony Kan. Any mistakes, errors or omissions are entirely due to myself"

Master Wong Shun Leung named his System Ving Tsun Keun Hok.
Ving Tsun is a 400 year old Southern Chinese System of Martial Art which is renowned for its close in fighting. In Ving Tsun Kung Fu the key is to focus on simplicity, directness and efficiency in the strategy and methodology of the System. There are only four empty hand Patterns (Forms) namely the Siu Nim Tau, Chum Kiu, Biu Jee and the Wooden Dummy Pattern called the Mook Yan Jong. Finally the System culminates with the Six and Half Point Long Pole Pattern called the Luk Dim Boon Kwan and the famous Butterfly Knives (Swords) called the Bart Cham Dao.
Wong Shun Leung lineage Ving Tsun uses Short Bridge Power or Duen Ging and it also uses Long Bridge Power (to extend force when the limbs are at maximum extension) this is called Cheung Kiu Faat Lik. Bruce Lee termed this power, Cheun Ging (Inch Force) and he used this to demonstrate his famous One Inch Punch. In fact Wong Shun Leung explained many times the Cheung Kiu Faat Lik and how a skilled Ving Tsun Technician can hit again even when their limbs are at full extension. The Inch Punch is from the whole body and makes use of the Long Bridge Power. Sifu Anthony Kan has shown Sifu Doug Clark the specific parts of the Siu Nim Tau Pattern where the concept of Cheung Kiu Faat Lik is shown. This concept of Cheung Kiu Faat Lik is also shown in the Biu Jee Pattern.
Wong Shun Leung lineage Ving Tsun also uses a unique type of training to develop the quick reflexes, tactile awareness and sensitivity of the Ving Tsun exponent. This unique form of training is called Chi Sau, commonly known as Sticking Hands, although this is a little bit of a misnomer as the idea in Wong Shun Leung lineage Ving Tsun is not to stick or adhere all the time. In fact in our lineage the aim is to attack instinctively as soon as the arms are freed. With the main emphasis on the Lut Sau Jik Chung part of the equation. Thus conforming to the Ving Tsun motto:
Loi Lau Hoi Sung Lut Sau Jik Chung
Loi Lau = Stay With What Comes
Hoi Sung = Follow Through As The Force Retreats
Lut Sau = Hands lost or freed
Jik Chung = Fire (Attack) Instinctively
