Control of the opponent or one's enemy in combat requires control of oneself:
Upon reading the previous page on VT Figthing Spirit one may make the mistake of thinking that our System of Martial Art advocates violence. In fact nothing could be further from the truth. It is essential to train very hard and to train with realism whilst maintaining safety of our training partners so that should a real life event come about where one is forced to protect oneself or one's family and friends that one can do so with minimum injury to oneself and those around whilst nullifying the attacker (enemy) swiftly and decisively.
That being said all Martial Arts arise originally from a spiritual perspective. It was Bodhidarma an Indian Saint that took meditation into China and upon finding that the Monks at the Shaolin Temple could not maintain the meditative state he introduced a series of exercises called the 18 Hands of Lohan that was the fore runner of the Kung Fu that we see today.
If Martial Arts arise from a spiritual base it means that self control, self discipline and a care for humanity must be at the basis of Martial Arts and Martial Artists. We as Martial Artists are not thugs, we uphold good values and decency and do not seek out confrontation or fighting.
However, it is also a fundamental human right to protect one's self, one's family and friends abiding within the remits of society.
Thus Scientific Ving Tsun teaches realistic combat methods and methodology in a complete System of Kung Fu that respects and honours the Founders and the legacy provided to us. Scientific Ving Tsun stresses self discipline, self control and tolerance promoting peace above all else.
Train hard and train correctly to be able to develop self confidence and self worth, test out one's System and training in a co-operative and collegiate manner free from the ego to develop mastery in one's System with the sincere desire to never have to use one's skills for real.
