In this picture you can see Sifu Doug Clark with his Sigung Wong Shun Leung. This photograph was taken in the mid 1990's at one of the many seminars that Master Wong Shun Leung hosted in the UK. Sifu Doug Clark is a personal student of Sifu Anthony Kan.
Sifu Anthony Kan is a Senior Instructor in Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun Kung Fu being a good personal friend and direct line student of the late Master Wong Shun Leung. Being Chinese as well as a good personal friend of Master Wong Shun leung and his family Sifu Anthony Kan was able to gain lots of in depth high quality tuition and learning in Wong Shun Leung's System of Ving Tsun Kung Fu direct from his Master Wong Shun Leung. As such his depth of understanding, technical and practical skills are outstanding. Sifu Doug Clark after training more than fourteen years on a near weekly basis with Sifu Anthony Kan as a Private and direct line student has also gained a very high understanding of the Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun System reflected in his excellent practical and technical knowledge.

Master Wong Shun Leung and Sifu Anthony Kan
In this picture you can see Master Wong Shun Leung in white and my teacher Sifu Anthony Kan in grey. Master Wong Shun Leung was one of the Senior students of the Great Grandmaster Yip Man. In fact Master Wong Shun Leung was noted as a highly gifted and dedicated student of Yip Man. Master Wong Shun Leung is credited with being a formidable fighter for the Ving Tsun Clan in Hong Kong, engaging in many Beimo (Talking Hands) or no holds barred fights. This fighting prowess earned him the name of Gong Sau Wong or the King of Talking Hands from the Hong Kong Press. Many of these fights took part on the rooftops in Hong Kong. In his time Master Wong Shun Leung took on many challengers and it is said that he never lost one of these fights. He tested his Ving Tsun theory and practice to find out what worked and more importantly what did not work in the arena of the real fight. Having done so and in conjunction with the guidance of his teacher Yip Man, Wong Shun Leung created a unique method of Ving Tsun which is distinct from other branches in both its philosophy, strategy and methods. In truth Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun is a devastating method of close quarter combat focussing on but not limited to the In-Fight. Master Wong Shun Leung named his System Ving Tsun Kuen Hok or the Science of In Fighting according to Wong Shun Leung. Master Wong Shun Leung was not only a gifted and highly skilled Ving Tsun exponent, he was also a gifted and highly skilled teacher of the Ving Tsun System and has many students world wide who are dedicated to maintaining and preserving his System for the future.
As stated above Sifu Anthony Kan was a good personal friend of the late Master Wong Shun Leung and he was also a direct line student of Wong Shun Leung being recognised as a Senior Instructuor of the Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun System. Sifu Anthony Kan received a personal certificate signed by Master Wong Shun Leung to recognise him as a Senior Instructor of the Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun Kung Fu System. He is an outstanding Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun exponent and a highly gifted WSL Ving Tsun Master in his own right. In all honesty Sifu Anthony Kan is a brilliant martial artist with a deep understanding of the Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun System and Sifu Doug Clark has been sincerely honoured to be accepted as a student of Sifu Anthony Kan.

Biography of Sifu Doug Clark
In this picture you can see Sifu Doug Clark next to his Sifu and Master namely Anthony Kan. Sifu Doug Clark is fourth from the left as you look at the picture next to Sifu Anthony Kan. This photograph was shot in 2006. Sifu Doug Clark started training in Martial Arts at the age of 14 years old, as of writing this website he is 45 years of age and has been actively training all of that time. Originally training in the Japanese Systems of Juko Ryu Ju Jitsu, Tomiki Aikido and Shotokan Karate as well as the Chinese System of Lau Gar Kung Fu. He went on to learn Wing Chun Kung Fu via the Ip Chun Lineage and also Wing Tsun via the Leung Ting Lineage. In total this tuition lasted 15 years. All of his previous teachers are excellent in what they do and Sifu Doug Clark gives credit to them all for guiding him on his Martial Path.
However, in late 1993 Sifu Doug Clark was introduced to and became a student of Sifu Anthony Kan and has remained a direct line student ever since. Since finding the excellent Ving Tsun of the Wong Shun Leung System as taught through the auspices of Sifu Kan, Sifu Doug Clark has not trained under any other Ving Tsun teacher. He has dedicated himself totally to the Wong Shun Leung way, recognising in Sifu Anthony Kan an excellent exponent of the WSL Ving Tsun System.
In 2002 Sifu Doug Clark after serious examination and testing received a certificate signed solely by Sifu Anthony Kan to recognise him as a Technician of the Wong Shun Leung Lineage Ving Tsun Kung Fu System as taught by Sifu Anthony Kan.
Sifu Doug Clark is very proud to have received this certificate after many years of dedicated training. Since gaining this certificate he has continued to train and learn from Sifu Anthony Kan at every available opportunity, recognising that Martial Arts are a life long path.
In fact in 2005 after his Sifu commenced Internal Martial Arts training (Nei Jia Quan) in China under the auspices of Professor Fang Ning the 5th Generation Grandmaster of Wudang Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan, Sifu Doug Clark has commenced training in Tai Chi Chaun with Sifu Anthony Kan. Sifu Doug Clark finds that the Tai Chi Chaun that he is learning from Sifu Kan compliments his Ving Tsun as well as benefitting his health. Sifu Doug Clark also trains in Chi Gung (Qi Gong) especially Ba Dua Jin and finds this very good as well. When teaching Ving Tsun he aims to teach as he was taught via the Wong Shun Leung/Anthony Kan line, keeping the teaching as original and pure as possible.
